The sun was just peeping over the hills this morning (Saturday March 7 2015) as the first wave of riders took off from Milpost Road, Kowen Forest, on their 100km journey to Mt Stromlo in the final Capital Punishment mountain bike race. More than 500 riders in five waves swept up the dusty fire-road heading for the tracks of Kowen East and Sparrow Hill before returning to Kowen Forest and heading west to visit the sights of the ACT, and finally, Stromlo. The companion race, the Capital Punishment 50km, started and finished at Mt Stromlo with more than 400 riders. How sad that one of the region’s most popular mountain biking events is to be no more. Here are three videos, and you will also find more than 200 still photos in two parts in the Photo Gallery.
